PRIME ATTRACTION OF AJMER

AJMER-E-SHARIEF DARGA

At the foot of a barren hill is the most important pilgrimage center in India for people of all religions. This is the beautiful tomb of Saint Sufi Khawaja Moinuddin Chisti, better known as Khawaja Saheb or Khawaja Sharif. The sanctuary is only in Mecca or median for the Muslims of South Asia. Emperor Akbar pilgrimaged this Dargah for eleven years a year. Adhai-Din-Ka Jhonpara: one of the best examples of Indo-Islamic architecture, was a Sanskrit college of the twelfth century. In 1193, Mohammad Ghori destroyed the school that had been built in its place. The mosque is built on pillars and, surprisingly, two pillars are not the same. The arcades are finely engraved inscriptions Kufi and Koran Jughra (also spelt under the name of Koran). Nasiyan (Jain Temple): this red Jain temple was built at the end of the 19th century. The wooden plaque of the two-story room shows scenes from Jain mythology. The beauty of this temple is widely praised.

1.    ADHAI DIN KA JHONPRA

This mosque was built on the basis of the dismantled remains of the temple in the area. It was built by the first Sultan of Delhi Dutub-Ud-Din-Aibak in two and a half days. Adhai Din ka Jhonpra cares a lot for all lovers of history. This monumental mosque is one of the most famous sites of Ajmer.

2.     TEMPLE OF APTAESHWAR

It is an underground temple built in the twelfth century, which today has the largest number of pilgrims. Temples are more a place of prayer than a place to visit.

3.    GOVERNMENT MUSEUM

The Royal Palace of Akbar has been transformed into a museum and now houses a rich collection of Mughal and Rajput arsenals. Some of the fine and delicate sculptures of the region are exhibited here. The building was built in red sandstone, whose square shape gives it a fantastic appearance.

4.    ANA SAGAR LAKE

This lake was built by Anaji between 1135 and 1150 AD Later, the Mughal emperors built additional structures to make it more beautiful. The “Baradari”, a marble pavilion built by Shah Jahan and the gardens of Daulat Bagh, built by Jehangir. This lake is located north of the city of Ajmer.

5.    SONIJI KI NASYA

Jain temple with rich architecture, it contains various statuettes in gilded wood. Located at Prithvi Raj Marg, in Ajmer, it was built in the late nineteenth century.

6.    TARAGARH FORT

The fort was built in the seventh century by Ajaipal Chauhan and offers panoramic views of the city. Fort Taragarh or “Star Fort” is located on a hill and to get there, you must follow a tortuous donkey road. {Reserve Fort Tours}

7.    MAYO COLLEGE

One of the best public schools in India, located in the southeast of Ana Sagar, has become Circuit House. The lake and sanctuary of the Hindu reformer Swami Dayanand, the founder of the “Arya Samaj movement” in India, can be seen here.

Lord Brahma temple is located on the bank of Pushkar Lake. This is the place where Lord Brahma and Savitri used to offer their prayers. It is believed by pilgrims that a dip in this holy river is the route to attain Moksha – freedom from the vicious cycle of life and death. This most famous Brahma Ghat is designed exclusively for taking the holy dip and offer prayers.

4.     THE MYSTERIOUS – NAGA PAHAR

The Naga Pahar stands as a divider between the city of Ajmer and Pushkar Lake. It is believed that Agastya Muni used to reside in a cave located on this hillock. The Nag Kund associated with Naga Pahar is believed to be the residence of Brahma’s son, Vatu.

According to a tale narrated by a legend, it is believed that this hillock has been diminishing over time and will ultimately disappear. This hillock offers a picturesque view of Pushkar city from its peak. Photography, trekking and spiritual walks are few engaging activities conducted at Nag Pahar.
